Continuous training

GameLoc works actively in initiatives to train translators and other professionals in the videogame localization. GameLoc also offers training to students of different universities (Universidad Alfonso X, Universidad Europea de Madrid, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, ISTI Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Translation, Master’s Degree in Translation and Subtitling, Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, etc.).

    The first international videogame seminar (I Seminario Internacional sobre Videojuegos) was a meeting of the localisation industry, where professionals and worldwide users could debate about the situation of videogames today and tomorrow. Two members of our team, Isabel de la Mota and Enrique García, had the opportunity to talk about how a videogame is localized at the Universidad Europea de Madrid. They also participated in a round table discussion focused on The future prospects of the videogame industry (Perspectivas de futuro de la industria del videojuego).

Intensive Course on Videogames Localisation

    This course was organized by the Universidad Europea de Madrid. The main purpose was the students' training regarding basic concepts of entertainment software localisation as well as the translation of different types of documentation related to videogames. This course also included an approach to translation memories (SDLX) and a first hand experience with final products of different platforms. Other professional subjects discussed were project management, tax issues, invoicing and gaining clients. This time Isabel de la Mota and Enrique García gave talks about videogames translation methodology (Metodología de la traducción de videojuegos) and the history and evolution of videogames (Historia y evolución de los videojuegos) respectively.
